The Recap: There’s Cold Feet and Then There’s Jennifer Wilbanks

I just wrote about cold feet! Jen should have read it -- then she wouldn’t have run off to New Mexico! She would’ve known that it was normal to have pre-wedding jitters, and she’d have gone for her jog …and then gone home!

Really though, it’s a sad story. (Sorry for the serious moment again …it won’t be a regular feature unless polygamy and runaway brides keep abounding in the news.)

Jennifer Wilbanks, 32, was picked up by police after a bus trip that took her through Las Vegas, Nev., to a payphone outside an Albuquerque 7-Eleven where she called her fiance, John Mason, and 911 late Friday and said she had been freed by kidnappers. She was "scared and concerned about her impending marriage and decided she needed some time alone," Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz said. More than 600 people had been invited to Saturday's wedding bash, which was to feature 14 bridesmaids and 14 groomsmen.

Ladies, take a word of advice from me. The time alone, if you need it, can take place in your bubble bath, reminding yourself that you love this man to whom you said ‘yes’ …not high-tailing it to New Mexico and claiming to have been kidnapped. Have cold feet? Take a hot bath …not a road trip. Now she's facing indictments for making false statements to the police. The worst you’ll have are pruney toes.
