Avril Lavigne And Deryck Whibley Of Sum 41 Are 'Officially' Engaged

I say 'officially' engaged this time because rumors were rampant that the punk pair were engaged in 2004 around the time they bought a house together in Los Angeles. As it turned out, Deryck Whibley did 'pretend' to propose to Avril last year as a stunt to show how easily the media can be faked. He was right. But this time around, it's the real deal. Why? Because publicists know more about a client's love life than their parents, both publicists have confirmed it this time, so we're taking this one to the altar.

Pop punk lovebirds AVRIL LAVIGNE and DERYCK WHIBLEY got engaged at the weekend (25/26JUN05).

The SUM 41 frontman proposed in Europe where he is accompanying the SK8R BOI singer on tour, according to American magazine Us Weekly.

The proposal was made in Venice over the weekend. No word yet on a possible location or date for the wedding, and while both live together in L.A. they are from Ontario so is it possible we could see a punked-out Napanee-chic style wedding? Only the publicists know for sure.
