Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso Engaged

I loved him in ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ but then I lost track of Matt Damon. Ok, I know that he was in ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ too, but I only had eyes for Andy Garcia. Duh! And then I lost track of him even more. But I have to say, when I saw him on Oprah (last year sometime?) that he was interesting in that he was kind of faulting Ben Affleck for ‘allowing’ the media to know everything that was going on in his social life, especially concerning Jennifer Lopez. Matt spoke of a time when movie stars had their on-screen persona (for us to see) and their off-screen life (which was their own business) and that it was good like that so that when we see them in a movie, they’re ONLY that character and we’re not thinking ‘I wonder what’s going to happen with that [fill in the blank with whatever tawdry tidbit that you can think of] that he’s involved in.’

But I digress. Kinda. He kept his off-screen life mostly private. It’s rare to find a picture of Luciana Barroso on the internet or a tale of their escapades. Good on you, Matt and Luciana.

Now they’re engaged.

A publicist for the "Bourne Identity" actor told the magazine that after dating for two years, Damon popped the question "shortly before Labor Day."

The couple [hasn’t] set a wedding date, Us Weekly said. It would be Damon's first marriage. Barroso has a daughter, Alexa, from a previous relationship.

I wasn’t going to get snarky, but now that we see her, I agree with my kinda-bro J, she’s not particularly attractive. Maybe Matt should have kept up the privacy -- there are a lot of us snarksters out there.

   I for one say Congratulations to Matt and Luciana. If he is happy and she is that reason I am very happy for them. I disagree with people who criticize the way she looks or what she does....she obviously is perfect enough for him.
