Montreal Weddings, Courtroom Style

Having been born and raised in Montreal, this story bugged my essence to the core because Montrealers ARE romantic. I know they -- we -- are. And this -- THIS -- is so very unromantic.

It's wedding season in Montreal, and the courthouse is as busy, if not more so, than any church in town. Why they do it in such a decidedly unromantic venue - where a loudspeaker blares every few minutes, calling lawyers, witnesses and accused to courtrooms - varies as much as their choice in dresses.

Gail Nimmo, mother of the bride, understands what I’m saying. Or was she more angry that her 20 year old daughter was marrying a 43 year old man? Hmmm. I think she’s pissed for a number of reasons. Read the article. It’s buggy on a few levels but she’s funny.

The gift I’m giving all the folks who are opting for this venue if it’s not for a financial reason: Taste. And, oh yeah, some romantic music.
