Rob And Amber Get Married On Prime-Time TV

So D slept through the wedding, and apparently she wasn't the only one to miss it. The first hour of the Rob & Amber wedding extravaganza finished behind Fox's "House" finale and NBC's "The Contender". For the final hour of the wedding show, the dynamic duo couldn't beat out NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" finale. It was a tough night to air a wedding show especially with Fox setting the evening agenda with the massively watched American Idol pre-finale episode.

But was it entertaining? It really depends on what your expectations were for a 2-hour celebrity wedding show. Hopefully not very high, this is undeniably trash TV, c'mon people! There were some funny moments like when Rob drives Amber and celebrity wedding coordinator Colin Cowie around on a golf cart and he gets stuck on some stairs and Cowie has to get out and help Rob lift the cart to get it unstuck. Rob says he liked working with Cowie, even though he "goes to different bars than I do (wink wink), you know what I'm sayin'?".

Rob and Amber were their usual perfect 'made for TV' selves. They really are. Rob was witty as ever and Amber looked gorgeous in her v-neck dress designed by Arlette Kronk who Amber hand-picked (one of Amber's mom's best friends), ignoring Cowie's initial pleadings to wear Christian Dior. Cowie later admitted that he was "blown away" by Kronk's dress. But as much as the show was about Rob and Amber, the real story was Cowie and how he pulled off the execution of the wedding in 30 days.

Cowie's personal stamp was all over this wedding. Here were some of the key details that he focused on:

Don't Be Afraid To Break The Norm When It Comes To Seating & Aisle Planning

Says Cowie, "Rather than having a traditional set-up for the ceremony, we made it so that the aisle actually weaved throughout the seating of the guests. So everyone got the see them walking down the aisle, and it flowed the way a beach wedding with the ocean behind it should flow."

Rituals Are Very Important

Says Cowie, "I always believe that standard preacher ceremonies are as interesting as watching paint dry, and today, the most important thing is to personalize them and fill them with ritual so we, as guests, can be involved. In addition to some special elements we incorporated for Rob and Amber and their guests, I also gave them a directive to go out and come up with amazing surprises for each other, which they did."

Cowie explains, "One aspect to make it more interactive and not so standard, was that we gave ribbons to each guest in their hotel room before the wedding. What I wanted to do was incorporate all the guests into the wedding, and have them send Rob and Amber on their way with all the best wishes. We put a ribbon in each guest's hotel room before the wedding and asked them to take a few moments to think of their wish for Rob and Amber and write it on the ribbon. Then everyone brought the ribbon to the ceremony and we placed them all under an arch, so when Rob and Amber came down the aisle they walked through the collective wishes of their friends and family. It was fabulous. We then rolled the ribbons up and presented them to Rob and Amber so any time they ever get to a bumpy spot they can take them out and read them and remember all the wishes of their friends and families."

A Good Wedding May Be Good Enough For Many, But If You Want A Great Wedding - It's All In The Details

Cowie notes, "Another little element I added was placing cold towels on top of everyone's shoes. This was a beach wedding and all the guests were required to remove their shoes before sitting. And what's worse than having to put back on sandy shoes and having sandy feet afterwards? So the towels were to wipe off the feet and get the sand out of your toes before putting the shoes back on."

It wasn't great television but can't we get over this already? It didn't profess to be anything more than it was, not for a second. I walked away from the show knowing what I already knew; Rob and Amber are two very attractive, personable and camera-friendly celebrities who have a very real perspective of their limited shot at fame and fortune, and are hustling their tootsies every which way they can, in an honest way, to capitalize, monetize and celebritize the heck out of it. Good for them. At some point they'll fade off into the abyss of Trivial Pursuit and when that day comes, I'm sure it won't be of any surprise to Rob or Amber.

The TV couple, who got engaged on 'Survivor' and tested their love on 'The Amazing Race', is also adamant about "riding out" their fame "as long as we can".
